SZA’s celebrity crush surprisingly isn’t any of the rappers or love interests who’ve starred in her music videos.
On her new album Lana, which was released on Friday, Dec. 20, the singer, 35, appeared to reveal her crush on Martin Scorsese in the aptly-named song “Scorsese Baby Daddy.”
In the unexpected tribute track to Scorsese, 82, SZA sings the lyrics, “I rolled up all my problems / And then I smoked about it / I could’ve called my mom up / I’d rather f— about it / Addicted to the drama / Scorsese baby daddy.”
SZA also fantasizes about being in a scenario that sounds like a scene from one of Scorsese’s famous films, such as Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, or The Wolf of Wall Street — though she does not reference any specific characters or titles by the director.
She continues in the song, “I would pretend to do my favorite man, he’d call me tasty / Furious lady, then I wonder if I could do, baby / One day, I’ll understand all that it takes to be a lady.”
Fans have shared their thoughts on the track with many left wondering how Scorsese will react.
“I need Martin Scorsese to listen and react to Scorsese baby daddy right NOW,” one listener wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“SZA having a song called Scorsese Baby Daddy on SOS Deluxe 😂😭🙌 Best track title ever,” a second fan tweeted. Another person commented, “I just listened to Scorsese baby daddy and I feel like I’m floating I swear this is just excellent.”

The Oscar-winning director, who has three daughters, married his fifth and current wife, Helen Morris in 1999.
SZA’s doting song to Scorsese comes despite the singer being generally private when it comes to her love life.
In 2020, SZA confirmed that she had a brief romance with Drake back in 2009, after the rapper spoke about the pair dating in his song “Mr. Right Now,” released that same year.
The “Snooze” singer has also previously spoken in interviews and in her music about her former fiancé, whom she met after high school and dated for 11 years.
In an interview with Rolling Stone published in October 2023, SZA said the pair split “five or six years earlier” and that many of the songs on her 2022 album SOS were inspired by the relationship and breakup, including the hit track “Nobody Gets Me.”
